- Sorcerer Software Green SCREEN SAVER March, 1994
-
- *****************************************************************************
-
- The Green SCREEN SAVER is a small memory resident screen blanker that
- can be used with EGA, VGA, and SVGA monitors. In this unregistered
- evaluation version, the screen will blank after three minutes of keyboard
- inactivity. Pressing any key will then reactivate the screen.
-
- OPERATION:
-
- Start the saver by typing at the command line (DOS prompt):
-
- SSAVER <Enter>
-
- You can also start the saver from your "autoexec.bat". Enter the complete
- path and filename, which must include the drive and directory where the
- saver is kept. If the file "SSAVER.COM" is in your UTIL directory on
- drive C:, you would place in your "autoexec.bat" this line:
-
- C:\UTIL\SSAVER
-
- Once the saver has been started by either of the above methods, the
- screen will then blank after 3 minutes of keyboard inactivity. The
- screen is then restored by pressing any key.
-
- When resident (in your computer's memory), the saver occupies
- approximately 500 bytes. On machines configured with upper memory
- blocks, it may be loaded high, such as with the DOS LOADHIGH command or
- with a memory manager.
-
- If you should no longer wish to have the saver in memory, it can be
- removed by simply typing:
-
- SSAVER /U
-
- The 500 bytes of memory will then be returned to your computer's memory
- bank.
-
- LIMITATIONS:
-
- This version of the saver will not respond to mouse movement. The amount
- of time lapse necessary to blank the screen, set at 3 minutes, is not
- configurable. The screen cannot be blanked by pressing a hot key. The
- registered version does allow configuration of the timer and use of a
- hot key.
-
- This evaluation version will work only with EGA, VGA, and SVGA monitors.
- If you need to use the saver with a monochrome or CGA monitor, please
- let us know at the time you place your order.

-
- This saver should be used in DOS only. It will also work in a DOS program
- running under Microsoft Windows or in a DOS session in OS/2, but under
- these circumstances should be used with caution*. As with any DOS program
- that takes control of the keyboard, these operating environments will
- allow the the screen to blank, but may refuse to respond to your request
- to unblank! Protect your Windows sessions by unloading the saver before
- starting Windows.
-
- Other than programs that take over control of the keyboard (such as
- Windows), we have encountered no incompatibilities or software problems.
- Please read the enclosed file "SIXPACK.DOC".
-
- To register the Green SCREEN SAVER, have a hot key to blank the
- screen at will, and the option of adjusting the time to blanking (1 to 60
- minutes), see the enclosed text file "ORDER.FRM".
-
- Thank you for supporting shareware!

- * The saver actually works quite well in a DOS session in OS/2, but not
- from OS/2's DOS prompt.
